Strawberry Basil Mocktail


Fruity fun without alcohol.

Makes 3 drinks.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups fresh strawberries (could up to 2 cups for more intense strawberry flavor)
  • 8 fresh basil leaves
  • 12-ish ounces of non-alcoholic Brut or seltzer
  • 30 ml lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Wash and roughly chop strawberries. 
  2. Muddle strawberries with lime and basil. Muddle intensely - to the consistency you could drink through a straw. Alternatively, you could blend for a more smoothie consistency rather than muddled.  Dealer's choice I guess.  I muddled, and frankly, not as well as I could have. It was more like Sangria, eating the bigger parts at the end.
  3. Divide between 3 glasses.
  4. Top with non-alcoholic Brut (what we used) or seltzer (what original recipe used)

*Many similar recipes include a sweetener of some sort.  If you like your drinks a little sweeter, could choose to add simple syrup.  Many added sugar that you muddled, but I like not having chunks of sugar that doesn't always dissolve all the way.
