Cinnamon Vanilla Latte

Made this for a Sunday morning get together with a friend.  I used oatmilk as the recipe instructed, but it did not get frothy.  The cinnamon also settled at the bottom of the cup making me wonder about cinnamon sticks as a substitute.  Thinking to also substitute a regular dairy item for the oatmilk to make it frothy, as I've used the same technique to froth dairy products with success. This isn't going to be my go-to drink by any means, but it was a fun trial and error and something a little different.  And my friend said she like it, so on the blog it goes.

Makes 2 lattes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups strong coffee
  • 1 cup oatmilk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Heat milk on stove.
  2. Add in cinnamon and vanilla, mix well.
  3. Froth milk mix with immersion blender.
  4. Pour coffee into cups and then top with milk.

**I did try putting 3 cinnamon sticks in the milk while it heated on the stove, the cinnamon flavor did not come across as strong but it did solve the  accumulation of cinnamon at the bottom.  I have again made a latte with half and half (a different one) and it did help the frothiness.

Neither frothing method worked super well, I think the french press may have been a little frothier, plus less messy:
